PREREQUISITE for operating a motor boat 

In Quebec and in the rest of Canada, all operators of a motorized pleasure craft must have proof of competency in their possession. The Pleasure Craft Operator Card is mandatory regardless of age, length of boat or power and type of engine used.

There are two ways to get your card...

​

If you have a Basic Cruising Standard certification obtained at Ohana, you just have to order your card for a $50 fee. No study or exam necessary.

​

If you don't have a Basic Cruising Standard certification obtained at Ohana, or you have one obtained at another sailing school, take an online course.

​

Study at your own pace:

  • The first chapter of the course is free.

  • The study guide is simple and comprehensive.

  • Training is available 24/7.

Take the exam online:

 

  • This is the official Transport Canada exam.

  • The exam is multiple choice.

  • The exam is open book.

  • Exam retakes are free.

Print your card:

 

  • The card is good for life!

  • The temporary card will allow you to sail as soon as you pass the exam.

  • You will receive the official card within one month of passing the final exam.
